GoDaddy was launched new domain manager control panel, and with that change will have many people will be don't know how to create a subdomain on new panel. So, in this post, I'll show to you what you need to do on new control panel to add a sub domain, and then how to points it to an IP address (on any web hosting you want).
First
You need to know the IP address of your web hosting. You can look it at the Cpanel control panel of your web hosting. For example, I'll get my IP address on HostGator.
Logged in to HostGator Control Panel, (easy way is type “cpanel” into end of your website address). Then scroll to botton of this page, at the “Account Information” section you'll see the “IP Address” field, this is the IP address that your hosting company has provided to you. Now, let copy and paste it into Notepad.
Then
Before we started to this step, you must owned a domain name at GoDaddy. If you haven't, let buy a cheap .Com domain with just $.99/yr. After had owned a domain, you logged in to GoDaddy, at the “Domain” section, choose the domain that you want add a sub-domain, click to “Manage DNS“.
Case 1:
If your domain has changed NameServer to another company, GoDaddy will be can't display your DNS information because your nameservers aren't managed by their, and you also can't create subdomain on GoDaddy domain control panel with this case.
To solved this case, you go to the hosting control panel that you has pointed the domain to, looking the section “Domain DNS“, then you can create the subdomain you want at there. For webhosting using Cpanel control panel, you can create sub-domain by click to “Simple DNS Zone Editor” or “Advanced DNS Zone Editor” section at the “Domain” box.
Case 2:
If you're using default NameServer at GoDaddy, they'll show all of your current Domain Records at here. Then at the bottom of the Records list, you click “Add” and select “A” from the “Type” drop-down menu.
Then you complete the fields:
- Host – Enter the subdomain you want to us (Maximum 25 characters).
- Points to – Enter the IP address you want the subdomain to points to (You paste the HostGator IP address that you has got above into this field).
- TTL – Select how long the server should cache the information (Do not change).
Now you click to Save button. Please give 48 hours to see the changes, But usually takes some minutes only 😀
