DigitalOcean became a partner of the GitHub Education Pack on October 7, 2014. From that day on, DigitalOcean offers a promo code of ($100) $200 to each student that signs up for this education program.
(*) Update: You can now get up to $200 (instead of $100 as before) DigitalOcean Free Credit in the GitHub Student Developer Pack program.
Students can use the free credit to deploy any cloud hosting package for their projects on DigitalOcean. Any student who is 13+ and enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting course of study can sign up.
If you're a student and want to get this deal, just follow the steps below:
- Visit Github Student Developer Pack and create a new account using your school-issued email address (.edu at the end of the address).
- Then, wait for a response from GitHub. They usually review and approve your request in about one business day.
- Once approved, GitHub will send you an email with some promotional codes for the tools inside the Student Developer Pack program, including the $200 promo code from Digital Ocean.
- Create a new account at DigitalOcean, redeem that code on the Billing page, and you will have $200 in Digitalocean Credit.
(*) This $200 is valid for one year from the day it's issued.
Note that the offer is only valid for new clients at DigitalOcean, and if you're not a student, this will not work for you. But don't be sad! Here's another deal to help you get free $200 in Credit on DigitalOcean, with no .EDU email address is needed.
I wish you success :).
